There many people looking for ways to break into modeling and there are almost just as many people trying to take advantage of these people.

Here are some ways for you to not being scammed out of your money

1. A good tip that a modeling company or agency is a scam is if they ask for money upfront. Real agencies wont as for you to pay them for you to work with them.

2. In some states companies can’t even ask for registering fees or they have laws on the books that deal with them.

3. shop around for prices on services.

For example I have ran into a company that charges nearly a thousand dollars for a “digital” head shot pictures.

What’s a digital head shot you ask, basically the company takes head shots of you and instead of giving you prints they put them online.

I have a friend that actually paid for this services if she looked around she would have found a few things. She would have learn not many (if any at all) companies actually look at this companies online portfolio and would still ask for prints. Second if she looked around she would have found many photographers that would work much cheaper and she could have used that money to buy truck loads of prints and paid to have them shipped out to people.

Sometimes people in modeling can find themselves in dangerous positions. Because of this we at Model Citizens are going to run a series of tips that you should fallow to make sure you don’t get into one of those situations.

Always bring someone along with you when working with new (and not so new) people and locations.

There are a lot of low down people that prey on people trying to get into the business, so for your safety please bring someone along with you.

If you can’t find someone to go with you should tell someone where you are going and when.

Also always bring extra money for cab fare.
